Trauma-informed employment means that we recognize that those who choose to work with us have experienced significant trauma. Our workforce development model addresses common employment barriers such as justice involvement, recovery, and trauma-induced physical and mental health needs by providing strengths-based job skills training and a supportive, safe, and healing work environment. We cover the cost of health benefits and ensure a livable wage to provide our team with the financial security necessary to maintain their independence. This stable income plays a critical part in preventing recidivism and breaking the cycle of exploitation. We meet our employees where they are at and walk alongside them as they grow into independence, stability, and confidence.

Sunday Seed Supply is a faith-based nonprofit. Our mission is guided by our faith, but our doors are open to everyone regardless of their personal beliefs. Because we recognize spirituality as a vital part of the healing process, we incorporate trauma-informed Bible study into our morning routine and prayer into our afternoons to provide a soul-deep, encouraging start and end to the workday. Our employees consistently say that this spiritual focus is their favorite part of working with us, even if they don’t profess to be people of faith.

Many of the people we serve feel distanced from traditional faith communities. We also believe that true restoration requires more than a Sunday morning program can offer. This is why we aim to make every workday a 'Sunday'—a place of peace where labor feels like rest and God’s presence with us is our focus.

To us, the 'Seed' represents the Gospel: the Good News and transformative, healing truth that God desires closeness with us, regardless of what we have done or what has been done to us.

Our initial work began years ago with flower farming. We gradually learned that the physical demands of farming were a barrier for those healing from abuse and physical trauma. In response, we have transitioned from selling flowers and seeds to developing a curated range of handmade products that allow us to prioritize 'slow production' methods that are physically sustainable and therapeutic for those we employ.

Donations primarily fund the outreach and prevention efforts of our survivor-led team.

• To prevent exploitation and victimization of young women aging out of the foster care system, we offer paid internships at a liveable wage with job skills training, mentorship and community to combat vulnerabilities that traffickers intentionally exploit like poverty and isolation. Donations make more of these paid internships possible.
• Our team provides education on relational safety and exploitation awareness to youth aging out of foster care. Donations cover the cost of fuel and printed educational materials.
• Sunday Seed employees teach classes on trafficking awareness and the trauma associated with it to incarcerated women each week. Donations cover the cost of fuel and printed educational materials and make more educational opportunities possible.
• We are honored to contribute to the work of Whispers of Hope in their outreach to women working in the commercial sex industry by donating our handmade products as gifts. Donations cover the cost of supplies and production and support other outreach efforts.
• We are working to expand our impact by developing trauma-informed employment curriculum and best-practice guides for other employers and volunteers seeking to support vulnerable populations in the workforce. Donations allow more opportunities to offer this training.
